When I first started I used to use 125 grain bullets for deer if they were under 100 to 125 yards and 150 grainer for deer beyond 125 yards to 225 yards. Another reason I only use this size round is that it is good for both deer and elk, and after shooting it more than 24 years I know it trajectory at various distances and I know how much to dial up or down my scope without carrying a data ballistic card.
